We are the volunteer development agency serving Thornbury and district. We aim to link volunteers offering their services with organisations that need voluntary help. We work as a clearing house for information and provide training, advice and support.
We serve Thornbury and its surrounds, primarily the BS35 and BS32 postcodes of South Gloucestershire.
Our office is staffed on weekday mornings by a team of volunteer co-ordinators who work with our development co-ordinator, Kim Webb. The Centre is a charity (number 1180775) whose activities are overseen by a management committee. We are based in the Town Hall in Thornbury. Details of how to contact us are here.
We promote good practice to organisations that use volunteers through our health check, our good practice guide and a support package of low-cost training. Through our activities, we increase awareness of the issues that affect volunteering.
We are a member of the Volunteer Centre Partnership South Gloucestershire, which also includes the centres in Yate, Kingswood and Patchway.
The Partnership works closely with CVS South Gloucestershire, the South Gloucestershire Council and other local organisations to inform strategic thinking and planning at a regional and national level. We participate in campaigns and represent local voices in issues affecting volunteering.
